What does STILT.PRO do?

At STILT.PRO we design and build professional equipment for growers.  We strive to provide a fresh take on product design, blending simple safe robust design with user friendly technology to meet our growers and their customer’s needs.
We take the time to immerse ourselves into the growers problems and frustrations and then take a step back to look at the problem within a larger system.  By doing this, we’re identifying many other aspects to the problem that are also critically important obstacles to our customer, things like transporting equipment, power sources, how the machine wears out and how it’s repaired.
STILT.PRO is working to deliver greater control of growing tasks by developing data solutions and automation and mechanization equipment. We take a system level approach and apply innovation to the design process as well as the delivered product.  This will lower operating costs and allow growers to gain visibility to their operation. The nursery market is competitive and for our growers to endure and flourish they will need to innovate.  We are meeting our customers where they are at by providing solutions built around their existing business and labor capability.

What is our tagline?

Simple AgTech MadeTough

What does it mean?
Simple

We strive to build product that is simple to understand and operate for the operator and grower.  With all the opportunity that today has to offer, there is no need for complex settings, crude interfaces, and unclear instruction.

AgTech

In order to simplify the growers experience and interaction, we apply technology behind the scenes, using technology like Internet of Things (IoT), Connectivity, Cloud databases and website dashboards.  All of these things sound complicated, but they put the burden of complexity on the team at STILT.PRO and allow you, as the grower, to focus on producing and growing your plants.

MadeTough

Now simple application of technology is great, but we understand the environment that you operate in and delicate machinery is just not going to work at your operation.  That is why we build our equipment rugged, tough and with the expectation that you’ll test us on that.  To show our commitment, we cover our product for 2 years, unlimited hours.  Put that to the test!

Where did the name STILT.PRO come from and what does it mean?

Quite simple – STILT.PRO represents strength and stands above the competition and unique in its own right.

Who is STILT.PRO?

We’re a unique mix of passionate people from many disciplines.   We’ve got expertise in mechanical engineering, embedded systems engineering, web development, database architecture, marketing and even tech support.  This day and age, there is a great opportunity to collaborate with the best of the best in every discipline.  Being young and agile allows us to seek out the best.  All this while still staying true to the best design practices to yield the most reliable results.

Who do we partner with?

We’re always open to new opportunities and new ways to help.  To start with, we’re setting our sights on the wholesale shrub nursery.  The hard working nature and complex operation provides a lot of opportunity for partnerships.  We love working with nurseries looking to improve their operational efficiencies, learn more about their own business, gain critical insight into the past, present and future of their operation.  And if you’re looking to move your clipboard data collection and independent systems into a more centrally integrated environment, we need to be talking.

How can STILT.PRO save you money?

Look at it like this – According to the USDA Census of Horticulture Specialties (2014) , for every million dollars in sales, you’re spending around $400K on labor.  If we can find ways to improve your efficiency by only 10 percent, you’re looking at $40K per million in sales per year.

How does STILT.PRO approach a problem?

We take the time to immerse ourselves into the growers problems and frustrations and then take a step back to look at the problem within a larger system.  By doing this, we’re identifying many other aspects to the problem that are also critically important obstacles to our customer, things like real-time visibility, historical trends, system wide views and from an equipment side – transport time of equipment, power sources, how the machine wears out, and even how it’s repaired.  All of this information feeds back into our design process and allows us to better meet your needs.

How can you, as a grower, help STILT.PRO?

We need to hear and see your operation.  We want to immerse ourselves into your operation to see it from our eyes and lens of experience.  Please, invite us to your nursery.  We’d love to learn about your operation as well as who you are personally.

Share some contact info and we'll see how we can help you!

What does the warranty look like?

3 Year, Unlimited Hours Warranty – INCLUDED

What does it include?

Includes: Problem identification, remote trouble shooting of issue, support and instruction for proper repair, and providing replacement of failed parts.

What is excluded?

Excludes – Misuse of equipment (including using non horticultural potting mixes with high sand and field soil content) or improper care, such as leaving fertilizer in machine for an extended period of time.  Wear parts (chain, slats, wear plates or surfaces).  External physical damage inflicted on the machine.  Labor repair costs.

We will walk you through the repair process and make sure you're happy.

What about Service Parts?

Yes, we keep inventory of most all parts. Most all of the components are either US Sourced or a common off the shelf component. We are having some supply chain issues on components, but we are working through the best way to manage that.

What about Repair?

All of our machines are designed right here in the US.  We design these machines to be easily repairable by an inexperienced worker.  Should a problem arise, you won’t need to weld or fabricate a new part.  The entire machine is bolted together and you can simply bolt in a replacement part.

The hopper capacity seems low

We have heard that concern, I get it, you won’t be able to load a machine up and let a person pot plants for a day.

Some perspective – The rear load machine holds about 3/4 – 1 cubic yard which is up to about 200 gallons of material. That gives you about 15 minutes of runtime without stopping.

The reason for the smaller equipment size is to primarily keep the price and complexity down.

Increasing the machine size has a few unwelcome side effects:

-Increase horsepower requirements which means increased power – now you have to have dedicated power for the machine.

-Increasing the hopper size also increases the physical size of the machine which increases the overall cost and reduces portability

You may have not made a purchase on a potting machine in the past because of the overall cost.

We're being cautious around those concerns and trying to work within your business goals.

Is this production rate slow?

From time to time, we hear that our production rates appear slow. Look at it this way though. You have 5 or 10 workers running a high-speed line. SOMETHING GOES WRONG, you now have all these people standing around and/or you need to find a different job for them.

What's your real per man hour potting rate?

If you have a machine problem with a high-speed line you’re completely shut down.  With a cell-based design, you have a small part of the potting operation down.  Your efficiency is similar whether you have 1 or 4 people operating STILT.PRO machines.

Your business is complex, don't make it worse.
